Fees

General Adoption Policies and Information:

Pup & Cat Co. rescues animals from many different situations.  We are looking for a lifetime commitment for our pets and we want the animal that you take into your home to be the right fit.  We may screen many different homes before we make a decision to place our animals.

When you adopt an animal from Pup & Cat Co., you must assume specific responsibilities.  You must agree to provide adequate food, water, shelter, and affection; provide necessary veterinary care, licenses; not use the animal for medical experiments, fighting, or as a gift.  You must agree not to request elective surgeries to be performed on the adopted pet. Elective surgeries include, but are not limited to, ear cropping, tail docking, debarking, and declawing.

Pup & Cat Co. may examine the animal at any reasonable time after adoption and if, in its sole discretion, Pup & Cat Co. is not satisfied with the condition in which the animal is kept, Pup & Cat Co. may reclaim the animal (with no repayment of fees or expenses incurred by you).  The adopter understands that a phone and/or home visit follow-up may occur as a routine follow-up by Pup & Cat. Co.

Our ultimate goal is to help you and your new pet adjust to its new environment.

Health Information:

It is Pup & Cat Co’ s policy that any animal adopted will already have been spayed or neutered, without exception, including puppies and kittens.   All animals will be fully vaccinated, dewormed and on Heartworm and Flea Prevention.  Dogs will be Heartworm tested and negative and Cats will be Felv/Fiv tested and negative.  Puppies and kittens will be required to have further vaccinations at the appropriate time and age as per the recommendation of  the adopter’s veterinarian and at their own expense.

It is required that a legally binding contract be signed at the time of adoption stating that Pup & Cat Co. believes the animal being adopted is in good health but no guarantees are made and Pup & Cat Co. strongly recommends that the animal adopted be taken to your veterinarian within seventy two (72) hours of adoption for a thorough health check.  If during that check a health problem is discovered, you may return the animal to Pup & Cat Co. and be refunded the adoption fee. Otherwise, you assume all responsibility for your new pet.

Pup & Cat Co. makes no claims or representations as to the temperament, health or mental disposition of any animal put up for adoption.  Please allow adequate time for your new pet to adjust to its new environment and family.

If for any reason this animal does not adapt to your situation, it is required that you contact and return the animal to Pup & Cat Co. 

Pre-Adoption Application & Fees:

A Pup & Cat Co. Pre-Adoption Application will be required to be completed for each animal. There may be a waiting period while the application is processed and references checked.  Pup & Cat Co. retains the right to refuse any applicant.

Depending upon the individual pet, typical adoption fees are $200.00 per animal.  Please keep in mind however that some of our animals may have had extensive veterinary care and therefore may have a higher adoption fee to help cover their medical expenses.  Prior to completing a Pre-Adoption Application please check with Pup & Cat Co. on the adoption fee to be charged for the pet that you are interested in adopting.
